Why MotherBorn Exists

MotherBorn was created to rebuild the community support that many local families lost when children’s services closed. Early parenthood can be an overwhelming time, and when parents have somewhere warm, knowledgeable and accessible to turn, it transforms their whole experience. We exist to make sure every family – however they feed or parent – feels supported, understood and connected.

Why It Matters for the South Hams

Strong communities grow when young families feel they can stay, put down roots and access the help they need close to home. By offering infant-feeding guidance, postnatal support, workshops and a welcoming hub right here in Kingsbridge, we help reduce the need for families to travel elsewhere – keeping them engaged in local life, spending locally and contributing to the long-term wellbeing of the area.

What We Offer

  • Infant Feeding Support
Friendly, evidence-based breastfeeding, mixed-feeding and bottle-feeding guidance through home visits, clinic sessions and antenatal classes.

  • Weekly Mum & Baby Groups
Relaxed drop-ins where parents can meet others, get support, ask questions and enjoy a safe space to just “be”.

  • Workshops & Early-Parenthood Classes
Sessions on starting solids, baby massage, postnatal yoga, developmental play and more.

  • Equipment Hire & Pre-Loved Resources
Affordable hire of hospital-grade pumps, slings, TENS machines, plus the sale of pre-loved maternity and baby clothing.

  • A Community-Centred Hub
A warm, inclusive space designed to give parents the reassurance, connection and practical help that makes early parenthood feel lighter.

Our Values

We lead with kindness, believing every parent deserves to feel welcomed, listened to and supported without judgement. We honour each family’s feeding choices and parenting style, offering evidence-based information that empowers rather than pressures. Community sits at the heart of everything we do and we’re passionate about rebuilding the “village” so no parent has to walk those early months alone. And above all, we’re committed to keeping our support accessible, approachable and rooted in genuine care for every family who walks through our doors.
