Kingsbridge’s residents, workers and local businesses are being encouraged to share their views on the town’s economic direction as a new consultation gets underway.

Supporting economic growth and helping to support more job opportunities is a key priority for us. To help deliver this, South Hams District Council are creating Community Economic Plans (CEPs) for towns across the District.

Kingsbridge is the fourth community to join the programme, with work on CEPs already in progress in Ivybridge, Salcombe and Totnes.

Input from residents, business owners and workers, along with local organisations, collected through the consultation and wider engagement, will shape Kingsbridge’s CEP and complement the town’s existing Neighbourhood Plan.

Because addressing climate change is also a top priority, the CEP will also explore how local enterprises can succeed while cutting carbon emissions and responding to environmental change.

A local steering group is supporting the project, bringing together business owners and community groups, ward Members and Kingsbridge Town Council. The group are helping to ensure the consultation reflects the full range of the community.

Businesses and organisations in the town can share what they need and what they would like to see by completing the online survey. The survey is open until 5 August 2026 at https://mykingsbridge.commonplace.is

Over the next three months there will also be chances to get involved in through local engagement events.
